Sarah (Stark) Tyler’s Father
The state of Virginia has tons of resources for genealogy research. If your ancestors ever resided in the Commonwealth of Virginia, strongly consider visiting The Library of Virginia in Richmond, VA, or visit their website: Library of Virginia: Digital Collections and check out the digital collections.
Anywho….
I found Sarah (Stark) Tyler’s (my 3rd great grandmother’s) father.
How?
So, based on Sarah’s and her mother’s (Malinda) estimated date of birth along with their location when Sarah was born, I determined that her father would be one of the sons of William Armstead Stark (Birth: About 1773 - Fauquier County, VA - Death: 8 Jan 1815 - Culpeper County, VA). In my previous post I mentioned that I discovered that many of my paternal DNA cousins have a common ancestor of European descent, James Stark (1747-1829). James Stark is the father of William Stark.
On a random day, I decided to search the surname “Tyler” in Chancery Records on the Library of Virginia website. I stumbled upon a case where Sarah was a witness for her cousin. Near the end of her examination, Sarah was asked the name of her father.
My hypothesis was proven correct. Her father was a son of William Stark. See below….
